The Carolina Theatre of Durham drives the cultural, educational, and economic vitality of downtown Durham. Built in 1926, the historic, nonprofit theater offers live events, film, and educational programs. The theater also hosts three historic exhibits on the development of downtown Durham, the volunteers who restored the theater, and on the Civil Rights Movement.
