Marvis uses her talents as an author, dance instructor, and motivational speaker to enrich her community. As an author, she has published a fiction, Nine Lives, a nonfiction, Every Storm Runs out of Rain, a children’s series, Grandmomma M, and contributed several entries for the Triangle Association of Freelancers’ anthologies. As a dance instructor, she uses urban soul line dancing as a low-impact form of exercise, as entertainment for prekindergarten to mature adults, and as a health and wellness activity. Using her experiences to overcome several life challenges, she speaks on stages, conducts workshops, and serves on panels to motivate and challenge her participants to dream about the life they want to live.
