Sparks Creative is committed to the affordable procurement of the arts. We teach private and group, online and in-person, music lessons and music theory courses. We also offer access to instruments, outreach concerts, and arts resources for the public. Our goal is to provide quality arts instruction to students of all ages so that they can learn without barriers (financial or logistical) and become arts supporters in their own right.

Michael Sparks, President and Co-Founder

As a Violinist, Michael Sparks is an active teacher and freelancer along the east coast. He has performed with the Chamber Orchestra of the Triangle, Carolina Philharmonic, Raleigh Symphony, Fayetteville Symphony, Symphony Orchestra Augusta, and the Long Bay Symphony. A sought-after teacher, Mr. Sparks is Suzuki certified, has served on the string faculties of the University of North Carolina at Pembroke, Methodist University, and Sandhills Community College, and founded the beginning strings program at the O’Neal School in Pinehurst, NC. Mr. Sparks holds a Bachelors of Music degree from Florida State University as well as a Master of Music degree from the Peabody Conservatory. Passionate about public service and making the arts accessible to all, he established Sparks Creative, a non-profit dedicated to outreach, education, and understanding of music.

 

Lindsay Leach Sparks- Vice President and Co-Founder

Flutist and Music Theorist, Lindsay Leach Sparks is the VP and Co-founder of Sparks Creative and Professor of Flute at the University of Akron. In 2010, she was one of two American representatives in the Beijing Nicolet International Flute Competition in China, and she currently holds the piccolo position with the Symphony Orchestra Augusta (GA). Dr. Sparks has served on the faculties of UNC Chapel Hill, UNC at Pembroke, the College of Mount St. Joseph, Methodist University, Rutgers University, and the North Carolina Virtual Public School. She can be heard on several professional recordings; her newest chamber recording, expanding her doctoral research, Rediscovering Hugo Kauder available on the Albany label. Dr. Sparks holds degrees from the Peabody Conservatory, the Royal Academy of Music, and the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. Her major teachers are Laurie Sokoloff, Clare Southworth, and Randy Bowman. www.LLSparks.com.
