Maureen inherited her artistic talent from her father, Dick Scullin, a well-known commercial artist who worked for various advertising agencies and art directors in Detroit from the early 1960s until 2000. Maureen began her artistic journey as a young girl, spending countless hours with her artist father, who taught her everything he knew. Maureen remembers her father’s wise words about practical matters, such as light, color and composition, as well as the importance of cultivating an emotional connection with her work.

Today, Maureen is a full-time artist in Fuquay-Varina, NC and concentrates on creating fine art landscapes, still life paintings, figurative pieces and commissioned portraits. I love painting and learning new skills all the time,” Maureen says. “There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t want to be in my studio painting. It’s where I feel most at home. I really believe that the desire to create something beautiful is a very important part of my purpose in life and I continually strive to be better.” Maureen has sold and commissioned countless portraits, landscapes and still life paintings.

She has won many awards including The Winsor Newton Award at The Mid-Atlantic Art Show in New Jersey. And in 2022, she took Second Place Honors at The Fine Arts League of Cary’s “Fabulous Fakes” show with her copy of “General Sir Ian Standish Monteith Hamilton” by John Singer Sargent.
