Mimi Herman is the 2017 North Carolina Piedmont Laureate, a Kennedy Center and Ghost Ranch teaching artist and the author of Logophilia and The Art of Learning. Since 1990, she has engaged over 25,000 students and teachers in writing poetry and fiction, as well as providing private coaching and editing. Mimi holds a BA from UNC-Chapel Hill and an MFA in Creative Writing from Warren Wilson College. Her writing has appeared in Michigan Quarterly ReviewShenandoahCrab Orchard ReviewThe Hollins CriticMain Street RagPrime Number and other journals. She has performed her poetry and fiction at venues ranging from Why There Are Words in Sausalito, California to Symphony Space in New York City.
