Girls Rock North Carolina (GRNC) is a youth-centered organization dedicated to building community and power among girls, transgender youth, and gender expansive youth through musical collaboration, political education for social change, and creative expression.

At the core of GRNC’s programming is our summer camp for marginalized youth in the North Carolina Triangle region. We hosted our first camp in 2004 with 29 campers. In our 20th year of programming, GRNC now serves over 100 young people year round. The evolution of our offerings now goes beyond summer camp, including offerings such as a middle school after-school music program, an adult rock fundraiser, and a community gear loan library.

As a youth-serving organization in the Southeast, GRNC supports a diverse base of BIPOC, queer, and trans young people. Southern trans youth in particular are experiencing a social and political landscape determined on oppressing their right to exist. Part of GRNC’s mission is building not only a safe and nurturing space for queer and trans youth to thrive, but also increasing community visibility and support during a time where trans youth are under attack.
